The introduction of communication provided farmers with a new and powerful tool. While adoption of the new technology is most evident in the consumer market, 5G's capabilities will have a greater impact in other areas. 5G not only offers wireless communications at speeds comparable to wired communications, but it also has the potential to connect rural areas that have traditionally been without access to the latest high-speed networks. This new form of connectivity is ideal for smart farms. 5G technology will for the first time allow farmers to integrate all aspects of technology into a unified network. Both fixed sensors and remote monitoring devices can provide real-time data to farmers. When these technologies are combined with other advanced technologies such as GPS navigation, farmers will be able to target resources precisely where they are needed most.
